Full listings of programme of events for the District of Bromsgrove and the Borough of Redditch February 2012

For the month of February, the Gay Birmingham Remembered exhibition was on show at various locations in Bromsgrove and Redditch. For more information about the Gay Birmingham Remembered project click on this link here http://gaybirminghamremembered.co.uk/

  • On 1st February,an official launch of the Bromsgrove and Redditch LGB&T History Month programme for 2012 and the Gay Birmingham Remembered was held at Bromsgrove library.The opening was by Councillor Mrs C Spencer, Civic Head of Bromsgrove District Council followed by talk and presentation by David Viney, Birmingham LGBT Community Trust and another short talk by Worcestershire County Council about their film "Partners".
  • Artrix, Bromsgrove hosted a number of films and entertainment events :- 
  • 4 Poofs and a Piano, film Tomboy (U),  film Weekend (18), film We Were Here (15), and Simon Callow read excerpts from his exciting new biography "Charles Dickens and the Great Theatre of the World"
  • On 14th February a family and social event was held including the Gay Birmingham Remembered exhibition plus displays and information from LGB&T History Month partners. There was a free buffet and children’s entertainer, Magic Russ. The evening concluded with the showing of the film, The Kids Are All Right (15).

This 2012 programme of events was organised by the LGB&T History Month Steering Group for Bromsgrove and Redditch. This is a partnership between public authorities in Worcestershire, community groups and individuals.The Steering Group is made up of the following partners :-

  • NASUWT (National Association of Schoolmasters and Women Teachers)
  • LGBT Unison
  • Rainbow Globe, Worcestershire
  • Rainbow Picnics, Worcestershire
  • Victim Support, Worcestershire
  • HMP Hewell
  • Bromsgrove District Housing Trust
  • Fever, Redditch
