Benefit Legislation

Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit are processed in accordance with legislation laid down by central government.  There are numerous acts and regulations that are used in the administration of Housing and Council Tax Benefit and some of the main ones are listed below:

- The Housing Benefit Regulations 2006.

- The Council Tax Benefit Regulations 2006.

- The Housing Benefit (Persons who have attained the qualifying age for state pension credit) Regulations 2006.

- The Council Tax Benefit (Persons who have attained the qualifying age for state pension credit) Regulations 2006.

- The Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit (Decisions and Appeals) Regulations 2001.

- The Social Security Administration Act 1992.

- The Social Security Contributions and Benefits Act 1992.

- The Social Security Fraud Act 2001.
