New Updates

With effect from 2nd November 2009 there have been 2 changes to Benefit legislation that affect the amount of Housing / Council Tax Benefit someone will be entitled to.  The changes are as follows:

CHILD BENEFIT

With effect from 2nd November 2009 Child Benefit will no longer be taken into account when calculating entitlement to Housing and Council Tax Benefit.  However, you must still tell us if you are in receipt of this income.  For more information on this change, please download the poster below:

CAPITAL FOR THOSE OVER 60

With effect from 2nd November 2009, if you and/or your partner are over the age of 60, the first £10,000 of any joint Capital is disregarded.  Capital includes money held in bank / building society accounts as well as any stocks / shares / bonds / land / property.  For more information on this change, please download the poster below:
