Special circumstances
If you are making a new claim for Income Support, Job Seekers
Allowance, Incapacity Benefit or Pension Credit the Job Centre Plus
or Pension Service will complete a new application form for Housing
and or Council Tax Benefit with you. You will not normally need to
complete a Local Authority application form as well.
When should I claim?
You should claim as soon as possible. If you delay claiming, you
may lose benefit. If you don’t have all the proof, do not delay
returning your claim form to us. You can provide the remaining
proof later.
Documentation Required
We must see original documents not photocopies.
Please do not send valuable items through the post. If you can,
bring the documents into our Customer Service Centre. We will take
the details we need and give you the documents back straight away.
