Payment of Council Tax Benefit
Payment of Council Tax Benefit is made in the form of a debit or
credit direct to your Council Tax account.
When Council Tax Benefit is awarded it is calculated as if
Benefit was payable for the rest of the current financial
year. It is then credited to your account as a lump sum and a
new bill will be issued detailing your revised payments. Any
payments you may have already made will be taken into account when
working out how much Council Tax you have to pay.
You should receive a revised Council Tax bill within 7-10 days
of your Benefit decision. If you do not receive a revised
bill following notification of Council Tax Benefit entitlement,
please contact the Council Tax department on (01527)
881671.
Please note, if you or your households circumstances change
and your Council Tax Benefit entitlement reduces or ends, the
amount you have to pay will be re-calculated and a revised bill
will be issued.
