How to pay

If you have received a rates demand you will need to pay the instalments shown on the demand on or before the instalment due date.

You will usually be required to pay your business rates in ten instalments.  The amount that you will need to pay and the date that payments are due by will be shown at the bottom of your rates demand.

There are a range of payment methods available to you payments can be made by:

Direct Debit

Direct Debit is the simplest way for you to pay your bills or make regular payments to any kind of organisation that accept Direct Debit payments. It saves time, is more convenient and gives you greater control over your money.

Direct Debit is Bromsgrove District Council's preferred payment method and offers significant benefits to you as a customer because;

  • You remain in control of your money,
  • You have a choice of payment dates,
  • You have the benefit of the Direct Debit Guarantee,
  • You will receive advance notice of any changes to your payments.

You can switch to Direct Debit today by telephoning the council's customer service centre on telephone us 01527 881288 or by completing a Direct Debit form.

Online Payment

You can pay your Council Tax or Business Rates on-line using the council's secure Online Payments service

Payments in Person

You can pay your Council Tax or Business Rates in person at the Bromsgrove District Customer Service Centre, School Drive, Bromsgrove.

Payments can be made by cheque, cash, postal order, debit or credit card.

Automated Telephone Payments

You can pay your Council Tax or Business Rates using Bromsgrove District Council's automated telephone payments system.

You will be requested to enter account and payment details. Once entered the data will be validated, and the payment authorised with the bank.

Once your payment has been accepted a unique transaction reference will be allocated, the system will notify you of this number.

To make a payment via ATP please ring telephone us 01527 881474.

Banks Automated Clearing System (BACS)

The BACS payment method is ideal if you make a large number of monthly payments to regular or repeat customers.

The advantages of BACS are;

  • Regular automated payments
  • Reduces time and cost of administering bulk payments
  • Helps manage cash flow and improve financial control
  • Reduces risk of loss, late payment and theft for customers

As the BACS process is electronic, it removes the need to write cheques, which can be a costly process and is subject to human error. Payments can be made much later in a business day, up to 9pm and are cleared within two business days to any bank account.

If you would like to pay by BACS payment you should ensure that you credit:

You should ensure that your payments are made at least two days before the instalment due date and that you quote your business rates account number when making payments.
