Think Pink and retain your right to vote
Residents in Bromsgrove are being urged to ‘think pink’ and make
sure their names are on the electoral register.
Bromsgrove
District Council’s Electoral Services Team is currently sending out
forms to all households for residents to check that their details
are correct and add names not already included.
If details on the form are correct then residents still need to
let the Council know that there are no changes.
And now it’s easier than ever to do this – via phone, internet
and text messaging or returning the form by post.
All changes from adding a name to changing a nationality can
only be done by returning the form by post.
Information on how to do all of these are included in a pink
leaflet included with the form.
Bromsgrove District Council’s Deputy Leader Cllr Geoff Denaro
said: “As well as not being able to vote in the imminent General
Election, if you are not correctly on the electoral register it can
affect your success in obtaining credit. “This could mean something
as simple as not being able to buy a contracted mobile phone.
“So please respond with out delay because otherwise we will have
to send out reminders which cost the Council – and you as taxpayers
– money that we would rather spend on other services.”
This is the first major project undertaken by the new Shared
Electoral Services for Bromsgrove and Redditch. It follows the
year-long pilot to share services between Bromsgrove District and
Redditch Borough Councils which was approved last month.
The move brings together a combined team of experienced
electoral administrators to provide a specialist service for the
future.
Cllr Denaro added: “This change and future service will be
seamless for all residents but it will mean a more efficient and
effective system is in place which can only benefit everyone.”
