Garden Waste collections starting soon
If you live in Bromsgrove District and want Garden
Waste collections this year, you must apply and pay by this Friday
(5th February) to ensure your new brown bin arrives in
time for the start of the service on March 1st.
If you apply and pay after this date, your new
brown bin may not be delivered in time for the start of the service
on March 1st.
From March 1st anyone taking up the
optional Garden Waste service will have their garden waste
collected from brown bins in the same week that their recycling is
collected.
The seasonal Garden Waste service costs £30
per year per brown bin, and runs from March to November inclusive.
You can have up to two brown bins. To apply simply call 01527
881711 or apply online at http://www.bromsgrove.gov.uk/.
Bromsgrove District Council’s Waste Policy
& Promotions Manager Anna Wardell said: “It’s less than a month
now to the 1st of March, so I would strongly urge anyone that wants
to take up this service to get in touch and apply as soon as
possible. That way we can get your new brown bin to you in time for
the first collections.
“If you have paid and are waiting for your new
brown bin, we are planning to deliver this by 19th February. We are
now working to catch up on deliveries of brown bins after the
extreme weather conditions caused disruption to our service.”
Please remember that from April 6th 2010 all
recycling will be collected from green bins. Recycling information
packs will be sent out to all households from 15th February. With
an eight page recycling guide, collections calendar, and a
recycling sticker to put on green bins, the packs should answer
many questions about the improvements to the collection
services.
What can I put in my brown bin?
Put these in: grass cuttings, branches (up to
4” diameter), weeds, clippings, cut flowers.
But keep these out: kitchen waste, soil,
rubble, concrete, stones, plastic bags or bin liners, fruit or
vegetable scraps.
