Details of hospital proposals to be presented
Details of the health service review in
Worcestershire will be presented to members of Bromsgrove District
Council at a public meeting on Monday.
Officials tasked with carrying out the Joint
Service Review and consultation on the issues will present details
of the future configuration of acute services in Worcestershire at
Monday’s (July 16) meeting of the council’s Overview and Scrutiny
Board at the Council House in Bromsgrove, starting 6pm.
The key local issue has become services at the
Alexandra Hospital in nearby Redditch.
Chairman Steve Colella said: “The board will
receive a presentation on the review of the options, in particular
the potential centralising of some services and the future of the
Accident and Emergency department in the Alex Hospital,
Redditch.
“Senior members of the Joint Service Review
Team will give details of the case for change, how the options have
been developed and the rationale behind them. This will give board
members the opportunity to scrutinise the case for change and
consider the impacts upon the people of Bromsgrove.”
The Overview and Scrutiny Board is a key part
of the local democratic decision making process as it looks not
only at the way the council does things but also at key issues
affecting the lives of people within the district – regardless of
whether they are related to the public, private or voluntary
sectors.
It is led by elected councillors who are not
members of the council’s cabinet and do not make executive
decisions, and who can make recommendations for policy development
and improvement independently of the cabinet.
