Neighbourhood Wardens
The Wardens are working with residents of all ages and
agencies across Bromsgrove District to provide quick response to
residents.
They assist in tackling priorities and delivering projects
identified by Bromsgrove Community Safety Partnership's monthly
Tasking Group.
Bromsgrove District Council accredited
West Mercia Constabulary's Chief Constable has approved the
council being Accredited under the new Community Safety
Accreditation Scheme arrangements.
The Accreditation scheme, which stems from the Police Reform Act
2002, means selected organisations and their representatives, can
have powers conferred upon them to enable them to issue fixed
penalty notices, confiscate alcohol and tobacco, ask for names and
addresses, under certain circumstances stop vehicles to test them,
escort abnormal loads and remove abandoned cars.
Bromsgrove District Council has asked for the power
to:
- confiscate alcohol in a designated place.
- confiscate alcohol from young people.
- confiscate tobacco from young people.
- require the name and address of people acting in an anti-social
manner, causing loss or damage to property, or involved in offences
causing injury, alarm or distress.
The Wardens role is threefold:
- Crime prevention and easing the public fear factor
- Improving the environment
- Community development
Their aim is to be the eyes and ears of the community
they serve.
So if there is anything you want to bring to attention - phone,
email or speak to them in person whilst they are on patrol.
