Get a THI grant

If you are the freeholder or leaseholder with an unexpired interest of not less than 10 years of a property within the boundary of the THI as shown on this detailed map you could be eligible for THI grant funding. The building does not need to be listed by English Heritage.

What you could get

Do not start work before your grant offer is signed. If you do, your application will be void and you will not get any money. Applications cannot be made retrospectively!

Here are some examples of what grants may be offered towards. For more complete information, see the guidance and documentation section.

Repair works to buildings in use

Up to 60% grant aid is available in this category, for:

  1. Roof repairs
  2. Stone and masonry repairs, pointing
  3. Structural timber repairs
  4. External joinery and rainwater goods repairs

Restoration of architectural features

Up to 85% grant aid is available in this category, for:

  1. Traditional shopfronts
  2. Decorative railings
  3. Historic window joinery
  4. Chimney stacks and pots
  5. Traditional cast iron rainwater goods

Bringing vacant historic floor spaces back into use

Up to about 55% grant aid is available in this category, for:

  1. Re-wiring
  2. Re-plumbing
  3. Re-plastering
  4. Installation of new flooring

Public realm works

Including repaving areas with traditional materials such as Yorkstone and granite sett, examples of which can now be seen on the High Street.

Professional Fees, Planning Fees and Value Added Tax (VAT)
