How we maintain our grounds

To keep the district looking great, we work to annual landscape maintenance schedules.

Highways

We carry out grass cutting, tree pruning, highway sweeping and a deep cleanse of the verges three times a year. Highway closures take place to allow this. We also survey mature trees along major carriageways and clear significant overhanging branches. We do a lot of this on behalf of Worcestershire County Council.

Grass Cutting

We cut grass between April and September usually on a 2-3 weekly schedule, however this is dependant on the weather and seasonal growth rates.  We are unable to cut grass if the ground is too sodden as this causes damage.

Hedges and Shrubs

We carry out maintenance on some hedges and shrubs. We are sensitive to the needs of the wildlife in the area and will change our maintenance schedules to avoid affecting habitats.  If the hedges or shrubs are not on Bromsgrove Council land we cannot carry out any work.

To keep the hedges healthy and vigorous they need to be cut regularly. This helps to retain their shape and keep vehicle sight lines, footpaths and entrances clear.

We chip our hedge cuttings and re-use them on local allotment sites or equestrian routes, or as a weed suppressant and mulch.
