Clean For The Queen Slider

Bromsgrove District residents that want to join clean-ups of their local area for the Queen’s 90th birthday can get support from their district council.

As part of the national ‘Clean for the Queen’ campaign being run in partnership with Keep Britain Tidy, Bromsgrove District Council is offering resources to any people or groups that want to organise community litter-picks in their local places between now and the first weekend in March.

The district council will loan out litter pickers, provide special Clean for the Queen refuse sacks, come and collect the litter, and offer advice and support on planning community litter picks.

Cllr Peter Whittaker, Bromsgrove District Council’s portfolio holder for environmental services, said: “Support is available for anyone in the district that wants to get involved with a litter pick, particularly around the Queen’s ninetieth birthday. This national initiative’s a good chance to show some local community spirit and keep on educating people to stop dropping litter in the first place which costs Bromsgrove almost £900,000 a year to clean up.”
