Voluntary, charitable and community groups in Bromsgrove can bid for up to £500 as a grants scheme is launched.

Bromsgrove District Council, in partnership with the Bromsgrove Engagement and Equalities Forum, is launching the first round of its small grants scheme on Monday 9th May.

The grants are available for activities that support community and equality outcomes within Bromsgrove District.

Voluntary, charitable and community groups can submit bids for up to £500 to deliver projects which address community issues and support wider community involvement.

The scheme was piloted last year and 17 projects were successfully awarded grants, ranging from events for Diwali and LGB&T History Month to targeted activities for bereaved young people and individuals experiencing isolation.

This year will see two rounds of the scheme to enable even more groups to be able to submit bids that will benefit Bromsgrove District.

This first round will close at 4pm on Monday 6th June. The projects must be delivered by 31st October 2016 to qualify for this round of funding; there will be a further round launched in the autumn.

Cabinet member Councillor Geoff Denaro said: “We are delighted to be able to support such worthwhile local initiatives through our Small Grants Scheme.

“Last year the grants helped many people within our communities and we hope that we will have an even greater number of bids this year.

“As always it’s good to be working with the Bromsgrove Engagement and Equalities Forum to decide on the successful bids.”
