HMD 2016

Residents are being invited to mark Holocaust Memorial Day at a special service in Bromsgrove next week.

This year’s service takes ‘don’t stand by’ as its theme, and will once again bring the community together to ensure the lessons of the Holocaust are remembered.

All are welcome at the event which will be hosted by the Chairman of Bromsgrove District Council Cllr Caroline Spencer at the Parkside Suite, Parkside, Bromsgrove, B61 8DA at 11.30am next Wednesday (January 27).

Cllr Spencer said: “This year we will remind ourselves of how the Holocaust took root through persecutions that were allowed to grow, often through fear or even simple indifference. It did not come only from people acting deliberately and the 2016 Holocaust Memorial Day message is simple: don’t stand by.

“As long as we remember the atrocities of the past we can avoid the same mistakes ever being made again, and by teaching these powerful lessons to our younger generations we can help ensure such horrors are never repeated.”
