Election Forms Pic

Residents should look out for important Household Enquiry Forms landing on their doorsteps over the next few weeks.

The Canvass will start on 12th August after which households will start to receive a form asking residents at that address to check whether the information that appears on the electoral register is correct.

The aim of the form is to ensure the electoral register is up to date and to identify anyone who is not registered so that they can be invited to do so.

Kevin Dicks, Electoral Registration Officer at Bromsgrove District Council said: “The annual canvass is an opportunity for people to easily check whether they’re registered. Anyone that wants to vote in any election must be registered. To make sure you are able to have your say at elections next year, simply check the form when it arrives and respond as promptly as possible.”

It’s particularly important that anyone who has moved house recently looks out for the form and checks whether they are registered. Past research from the Electoral Commission shows that fewer than half of all recent home movers are registered to vote. Registering to vote is quicker and easier than it’s ever been and takes minutes to complete.
