A brand new suite of exciting play equipment for families to enjoy is set to open this weekend at Bromsgrove’s Recreation Ground.

Bromsgrove District Council installed the new suite of exciting urban-themed facilities there ahead of the busy summer school holidays, and in time for the popular Street Theatre event that takes place there on Wednesday (July 27) 11am to 3pm.

The town centre’s new park’s design pays tribute to Recreation Road’s setting and history, with its benches, bins and ‘grand arch’ entrance all featuring references to the wartime drill hall that used to occupy the corner of Recreation Road and Market Street.

The Council’s Portfolio-Holder for Leisure, Cllr Peter Whittaker, said: “I am delighted that this play area, which boasts modern equipment, is open in time for our young residents to enjoy in time for the Summer Holidays.”
