Mums, bumps, babies and juniors can all get fit with two brand new outdoor courses starting at Sanders Park.

The Bumps and Babies workout is an outdoor course consisting of functional exercises aiming at toning the whole body whilst also doing aerobic interval training with the buggy.

Running every Thursday at 11.45am from 4th February, the class is £3 a session and is designed to get new and expectant mums exercising again and losing any baby weight they may have gained during pregnancy.

Also taking place at the park is the new Junior Couch to 2k course for children aged 11+.

Just like the adult couch to 5k, the course provides fun sessions for beginners over a six week period every Sunday from 11am. The course starts from 7th February and any participants who complete five out of six weeks will get a free sports bag and bottle.

Cllr Rod Laight, whose portfolio covers leisure services, said: “These exercise classes are completely new and cater for a completely different target group to most exercising campaigns, which I think is fantastic. It is important that everyone gets the opportunity to exercise in an environment that they feel comfortable in and being outdoors is good for everybody!”
