Works on Churchfields Multi-Storey Car Park will be continuing later this month.

From 23rd January, contractors will be onsite to replace the current lighting with new LED lighting in the next phase of the works which should take two weeks to complete.

The new LED lights should mean improved lighting levels and security as well as a reduction in the council’s carbon footprint and ultimately energy bills for the car park.

LED lights also last much longer than traditional forms of lighting and so should mean less maintenance work is required.

The work will be completed at night, after 8pm, once the car park is closed to the public, so should not affect anyone wishing to use the car park during the day.

Cllr Roger Smith, whose portfolio covers community safety, said: “Whilst the work itself should not cause any disruption to car park users, we wanted to warn nearby residents and visitors that they might see some activity in the car park of an evening. We have been advised that it should not cause any noise disruption. The end result aims to make a safer, brighter and more pleasant experience for everyone using the car park.”
