World MHDay (1)

As part of World Mental Health Day Bromsgrove District Council is highlighting events and projects in a bid to raise awareness of issues surrounding the usually taboo subject.

The year #WMHD focuses on young people and mental health in a changing world in a bid to kickstart the conversation around what they need in order to grow up healthy, happy and resilient.
In the run up to #WMHD on October 10, the Council will be publicising events, support and activities available throughout the District.

These range from a hate Crime Awareness Conference, an educational event for high school pupils on Child Sexual Exploitation and ongoing active sessions to stimulate body and mind.

All these will be promoted via the #wmhd on social media and in the local press.

Cabinet Member Councillor Margaret Sherrey, whose portfolio covers Health and Well-

Being, said: “It really is a changing world and our young people, living in a technology-driven world face a whole raft of challenges including cyber-bullying.

“We want to demonstrate that they are not alone and this Council holds events and activities throughout the year which could offer support or an outlet for people who are struggling with issues around mental health.”
