Budding Banksys and earnest Emins are invited to submit designs for Bromsgrove’s BirdBox as the District Council looks for artists to give the current mural a seasonal refresh.

Earlier this year local artist Fred Yorke, and his colleagues from Modern Electric Tattoo Co, in Catshill, created the current BirdBox backdrop in a bid to deter vandals who struck twice in 48 hours, defacing the panels.

As Winter approaches the Council, along with NWEDR, wants artists to submit a new design with the winning entry being recreated as the BirdBox backdrop.

The refresh will be carried out with financial support from the Welcome Back Fund which supports the safe return of High Streets following the pandemic.

Council Leader Karen May, whose portfolio covers Economic Development, said: “We have enjoyed the mural at BirdBox for some time now and want to build on its success.

“With the changing seasons, and our festive programme of events soon to be launched, we thought this was the perfect time to refresh the mural and wanted to involve our community in doing just this.

“I look forward to seeing the designs which our creative residents come up with!”

The mural design should incorporate seasonal features, community spirit and the name of the BirdBox. Entries should be submitted to info@BBBromsgrove.org.uk and should include a design mock-up of the mural.

Entries will close on Wednesday 27 October 2021 and the winner will be announced Friday 29 October 2021.

BirdBox is Bromsgrove’s space for live events, pop-up dining, arts and crafts demonstrations, well-being activities and, well whatever you want it to be! In between events it’s there to be enjoyed by everyone.
