You can now check the next roads we are coming to on a rolling plan on our website. It shows the current streets we're coming to next, and we’ll update it fortnightly.
Bin Replacements Autumn 2025
We're replacing 90% of our bins this autumn!
The new bins will be delivered between September and December 2025, with further detail in a letter from us about this that you should already have received.
See below for a list of the next roads upcoming for replacement.
The change will see the old type of 'diamond' type bins across Bromsgrove District replaced with UK standard 'comb' type bins, as shown below. The first image below illustrates the diamond type bins, which feature a large pocket on the outside. The second image illustrates the new comb type bins, which do not.

Old 'diamond' type, will be replaced, follow instructions below

UK standard 'comb' type, will stay, no action required
What will happen?
We will soon be unable to empty the old type bins, so it’s essential that your old bin is presented for collection and replacement. If you already have the comb style bin as shown above then your bins will not be swapped, and you can continue to use them as normal.
- Your new comb type bin will arrive before or at the same time as your old bin is collected.
- Collections will continue as normal during the rollout.
- Please keep placing your bins out weekly, even if they’re only partially full.
If your new bin arrives before your next collection, use your old bin as usual, and after it’s emptied, leave it out. A separate crew will collect it. If your bin hasn’t been collected by the following day, then please return your bin to your property and repeat the process on your next collection.
Rolling schedule of upcoming bin replacements
For the weeks commencing September 29 and October 6
Check back for the next update on Friday October 10
Here are the roads where we’ll be replacing bins next. That’s both types of bin, grey and green, on your usual bin day for each type of bin. Just keep using your old bin as normal, except leave it out until 5pm on bin day so it can be collected.
We’ll update this fortnightly, so you know where we’re coming to next.
! Important caveat !
Not every house on the roads listed below will necessarily receive a replacement bin in these two weeks. This is because these bin replacements are following what we call our ‘bin rounds’ (to prevent disruption to your collections).
Bin rounds are carefully-planned routes that our crews follow to collect waste efficiently. Each round covers a specific group of homes. We currently operate 10 rounds, each covering roughly 10% of the district.
Some roads, especially longer ones, span multiple rounds. This means your home might be on a road listed here for bin replacement, but if your section of that road falls into a different round, then your bin will be replaced at a later date.
What that means for you:
-
- If your road seems to show the wrong bin day (e.g. it says Tuesday when you are on a Wednesday), then you are on a different bin round. You will be scheduled in the future. Stay tuned! Your bin will be replaced on a normal bin day for you.
- If your bin wasn’t replaced even though your road was listed, then like above, you are on a different bin round. You will be scheduled in the future, so stay tuned.
- If your neighbours got new bins but you didn’t, and you believe you’re in the same round as them, please get in touch so we can look into it.
Thank you for your patience while we work through this massive upgrade across the district.

Why is this happening?
Bromsgrove is the only district in the country that still uses the old style of wheelie bin. To collect them our trucks need a specialist attachment, and this has become an issue.
- We cannot buy new vehicles or equipment that work with them.
- We cannot hire backup trucks when breakdowns occur.
- Our ageing trucks cannot be replaced without switching bin types.
Replacing your old type bin with the type used across the rest of the country helps us to continue your weekly collections and ensure long-term reliability.
All residents that currently have diamond type bins as shown above are going to be provided with 240l bins: one bin for refuse, one for recycling, and one for garden waste (if subscribed - brown bins will be replaced later, ahead of the 2026 garden waste season).
Use this link to request additional grey bins.
Use this link to request a replacement green bin owing to loss or damage.
As we are swapping over the majority of bins in the district, we are also making some changes to standardise them:
- Size: all new bins will be a standard 240 litre capacity
- Lids: bin lids will be coloured according to the type of waste: grey for refuse, green for recycling, and brown for garden waste.
- Bodies: all new bins will have a grey body, regardless of lid colour, as the below image shows.

How to use your bin
The lid colours will show you what type of waste to put in each bin.
Green lid: your recycling bin, for recyclable items such as paper, card, tins and cans, glass bottles and jars, plastic bottles, pots tubs and trays and milk and juice cartons. Learn more about what can be recycled in your green-lid bin (or refer to our recycling leaflet)
Read our recycling top tips to get the most out of your recycling bin!
Grey lid: your refuse bin, for non-recyclable or compostable waste.
Brown lid: for subscribers to our Garden Waste service, this is for grass and hedge cuttings and plants. Remember, existing comb-style bins will not be swapped. Not subscribed yet? Take advantage of our excellent value for money garden waste service now!
