Achieving Disability Equality in the Bromsgrove District
In August 2007, Bromsgrove District Council produced its
first Easy Read Version of the
Disability Equality Scheme (2007-2009). You can download a
copy here. A report of achievements against the Scheme were
published in December 2009 which you can access by clicking on this

In 2007 we published the results of our Disability Equality
research project in the report
Achieving Disability Equality in the Bromsgrove
District
.
This report is also available in Large Print which you can
download here Achieving

These two documents gave the Council the information and
evidence on which will move us towards achieving equality for
disabled people within the Bromsgrove District. This was a new
initiative for Bromsgrove and we want to thank all the people who
participated in the research without whom this comprehensive report
would not have been produced.
The report was compiled from written submissions and interviews
with the disabled community and their support networks in the
Bromsgrove District over the summer and autumn of 2007.
We are constantly listening to feedback from disabled people and
established a Disabled Users Group in 2007 to monitor the work
of Bromsgrove District Council in their efforts to improve
disability equality. The minutes of the Disabled Users Group can be
viewed below. At their meeting on Friday 1st April 2011, the group
agreed to disband in favour of a more formal relationship between
the Council and the Bromsgrove Disabled Access Group. Further
information about how we propose to work with disabled people in
Bromsgrove and with the Access Group will appear on this page in
the near future.
