Monthly Instalment Scheme

Council Tax is normally payable in 10 instalments, however you have the right to request payment of your 2013-14 Council Tax Demand by 12 instalments.If you would like to pay in 12 instalments then you must request this in writing, the request must be received by the Council by 15th April 2013. However, we recommend that you telephone us to discuss switching.

Latest Information - April 1st 2013

Unfortunately due to technical issues with our computer system Self Service is currently not available.

In the meantime if you require advice about your Council Tax account please contact the Customer Service Centre on 01527 881288.

It is now possible to view your Council Tax account online through our eCitizen service.

Access to this service requires registration.

Once you have registered for this service you will receive a PIN to enable you to view details of your Council Tax account. 

Register for Electronic Communication.

Bromsgrove District Council has implemented Self Service. Shortly we will be introducing Electronic Communication. This will enable our residents to receive Council Tax demand notices electronically through email.

What is Council Tax?

Council Tax is a locally set tax that is payable on all domestic properties. In most cases there will be one bill per property, whether it is a house, bungalow, flat, maisonette, mobile home or houseboat, and whether it is owned or rented.

Valuation, Banding and Appeals

Each dwelling has been placed in one of eight bands and the valuation band is decided by the Valuation Office Agency.

A copy of the Council Tax Valuation List can be viewed at the Customer Service Centre, School Drive, Bromsgrove.

Paying your Council Tax

If you have received a Council Tax demand you will be need to pay the instalments shown on the demand on or before the instalment date.

How to reduce your bill

The Council Tax that you have to pay can be reduced if you are able to claim a Council Tax discount or are entitled to Council Tax Reduction (replaces Council Tax Benefit from 1st April 2013).
