Youngsters’ swimming scheme fills in one
day
All five
hundred places on a discounted swimming
scheme for Bromsgrove district youngsters were snapped up on
the day of release.
Children and young people aged 2-19 had the
opportunity to sign up for the discount card at a free swim day run
by Bromsgrove District Council’s Sports Development Team last
Monday (July 26), and all five hundred cards were handed out by the
end of the day!
Supported by Wychavon Leisure Trust and held
at The Dolphin Centre, the scheme encourages more young people to
get active, more often.
Bromsgrove District Council’s Sports
Development Officer (Youth Provision) Ali Discombe said: “We are
very pleased that so many local children and young people took up
this offer to get active, it has proved incredibly popular.”
After completing a registration form and
redeeming their first free swim session on July 26, participants
received a card for a further 5 half price sessions and 2 free
sessions to be used over summer, funded by Sport Unlimited.
Sport Unlimited is an initiative from Sport
England which cascades funding to local communities via the county
sports partnerships network. It aims to get more people engaged in
sport and activity, and to encourage them to sustain their
involvement beyond the funded activities and schemes.
