Market Hall Demolition Planning Application Decided

Bromsgrove Market HallThe way that Bromsgrove’s Market Hall will be demolished has been decided by the District Council’s Planning Committee.

A prior notification was submitted to the planning committee yesterday, detailing method of demolition for the Market Hall.

Leader of Bromsgrove District Council Cllr Roger Hollingworth said: “The submission to the planning committee further shows our upfront and transparent approach about the future of the market hall site”

The demolition of the market hall will take place in April and is part of the regeneration programme that has already successfully begun redeveloping and revitalising areas of the town centre.

In the previous Town Centre Area Action Plan Issues and Options public consultation held in 2008, 83% of the public rated the range of shops to be poor or very poor.

Cllr Hollingworth stated: “It is important we continue to redevelop the retail offer right through the High Street, from Birmingham Road to Worcester Road and this will give us a prime development site at the south end of the Town Centre”.
