Bromsgrove Pay on Foot parking begins
Monday
People will find parking in Bromsgrove easier
and better value as the town’s two main car parks change to the new
Pay on Foot system on Monday 15th March.
Bromsgrove’s Recreation Road South – outside
ASDA supermarket – and Churchfields Multi Storey car parks will
change over to the new system on Monday.
Signs up at the parks informing drivers that
the improvements to the parks were due to be completed over two
weeks ahead of schedule have now been confirmed, as the new pay
stations and entrance and exit barriers will come into effect to
Monday.
The leader of Bromsgrove District Council Cllr
Roger Hollingworth said: “I am very happy that work on this better
value customer-friendly system has been completed ahead of time.
Many people parking in Bromsgrove will benefit from the
change.”
There will be staff on hand on Monday to
assist anyone experiencing issues with the brand new system. Staff
will be in attendance in person at the car parks as well as being
available through 2-way intercoms that are a feature of the new Pay
on Foot equipment.
Unlike the Pay & Display system, where
users pay for parking time in advance and display a ticket, in the
Pay on Foot system users take a ticket upon entering the car park
and when ready to leave pay for actual time used on their ticket.
Pay on Foot eliminates the problems and charges associated with
expired tickets.
Prices will not change as a result of the
work, and the new machines will accept prepaid smart card and bank
note payments – also eliminating the need to carry the right
change.
