U Decide
Young people in Bromsgrove District have a few more days to
apply for funding for their great ideas, as deadlines have been
extended due to the recent poor weather.
Through the “U Decide” scheme young people in
Bromsgrove District have the chance to get funding for projects
which benefit them, and will also be in charge of choosing how
money is spent.
The scheme makes grants from Worcestershire
County Council’s FLOSS scheme available to young people across
Bromsgrove District, in partnership with Bromsgrove District
Council.
Young people aged 7-13 and 13-19 (or up to 25
for young people with disabilities) can apply, and applications
from schools, community and voluntary groups are encouraged.
Additional support for applications is available if required. In
Bromsgrove District, we have £50,000 to distribute- £10,000 for 7
to 13 year olds and £40,000 for 13 to 19 year olds. Grants of
up to £5,000 will be available for each individual group of 13 to
19 year olds and up to £1,250 for 7 to 13 year olds.
The deadline for applications has been
extended until Friday 5th February to
ensure that as many young people as possible have a chance to be
involved, even if they were snowed in!
Projects that make a shortlist drawn up by a
group of young assessors are taken forward to U Decide events at
the end of March, where more young people will vote on which should
receive funding.
If you would like to help shortlist
applications, there is also still time to join the U Decide
assessors group. The group will look at every application
and produce the final shortlist of larger projects, and will also
award some funding directly to smaller applications. If you or
someone you know is aged between 7 and 19 years old, lives in the
Bromsgrove District, and wants to help things happen then it could
be for you! Assessors aged 7-13 are especially needed. The closing
date to get your name down as an assessor is February
12.
