Town alive with the sound of music
Shoppers were entertained by a local orchestra in
Bromsgrove’s High Street market last Saturday.
The Midlands Youth Jazz Orchestra (MYJO) was
asked by Bromsgrove District Council to play for residents and
visitors from 10.30am to 3pm, and seventeen members played from a
covered market stall outside Bromsgrove’s Post Office.
Bromsgrove District Council’s economic
development and town centre manager Peter Michael, who organised
the event, said: “The music brought a good atmosphere to the town
on Saturday, and the reception people gave the orchestra was
fantastic. We hope to arrange another visit from the MYJO
soon.”
Portfolio holder for town centre regeneration
Cllr Del Booth said: “Regenerating a town centre is about more than
just encouraging a good retail offering, although obviously shops
are massively important. It’s also about having things going on
that people want to enjoy, to be a part of. The regeneration
partnership aspires to bring together public events going on in
Bromsgrove, in the best interests of everyone who lives, works or
visits the town.”
