Cornerstone development opportunity
A development opportunity in Bromsgrove town centre, earmarked
for mixed retail, leisure and residential use, has been formally
put up for sale by the district council.
In accordance with the council’s Town Centre Area Action Plan, land
between Hanover Street, St John Street and Market Place has become
the latest of the town centre regeneration partnership’s planned
development sites to become available after the Health Centre on
Stourbridge Road, the extra care village planned for Recreation
Road, and the combined police and fire station planned for School
Drive.
The latest opportunity includes land incorporating the car park and
the building that currently forms the top of Bromsgrove High
Street, George House. Unusually for larger town centre sites there
is a single landowner, Bromsgrove District Council.
Bromsgrove District Council’s portfolio holder with responsibility
for town centre regeneration Cllr Del Booth said: “Developers have
shown serious interest in this site for some time because as a
cornerstone of the town centre it is an attractive
proposition.
“We are seeking a committed partner prepared to bring a high
quality, appropriate development to Bromsgrove, to complement both
the major upgrade to the High Street public realm and the townscape
heritage project.”
The council has employed New Road-based JP Dillon, commercial
property consultants, to market the site. For sale information
