High Street and Heritage consultations to begin
Residents are being invited to give their views on a range
of plans to improve and protect Bromsgrove town centre during
consultations that begin this week.
The six-week public consultations on plans for
the redevelopment of the High Street, the Townscape Heritage
Initiative and the Bromsgrove Conservation Area start on Thursday
February 2, and Bromsgrove District Council is encouraging
residents to look over the proposals.
The plans will be exhibited at the Dolphin
Centre on School Drive and Bromsgrove Library on Stratford Road for
the duration of the consultation.
Furthermore project managers and other members
of the design teams will be on site and available to talk about the
plans at the Library from 10am to 4pm on Monday 20 February through
to Wednesday 22 February. The information will also be displayed on
a High Street market stall from 10am to 4pm on Friday 24
February.
Feedback on the plans will be collected
through questionnaires and will include the range of options for
the manufacturing design of benches, lamp posts and other street
furniture that will be used in the new high street layout.
Bromsgrove District Council’s
portfolio holder for town centre regeneration Cllr Del Booth
said: “The new high street has been carefully designed to
be both practical and attractive, and in combination with the
Townscape Heritage Initiative it will be a real boost to our town.
I urge residents to come and look at the plans and take part in the
consultations.
“We also want to explain the Heritage project,
as it involves many parts of the community. We want the clear
benefits of the scheme to be understood as well as what
responsibilities owners and residents may have under it. It makes
good sense to do all this at the same time as the linked High
Street consultation.”
