Bromsgrove Council's Carbon Footprint 2010/11
Each year we will publish the greenhouse gas emissions
resulting from running our organisation and services. The
activities we have measured include gas and electricity use in all
our buildings; fuel used in running our fleet, for example our
recycling wagons; and our staff and councillor
mileage.
In contrast to previous years, where we only published our
CO2 footprint, we will now report in CO2
equivalents; taking into account emissions of Methane, Nitrous
Oxide and Carbon Dioxide.
2009/10 - 2884* tonnes of CO2e
(carbon dioxide equivalent )
2010/11 - 2909* tonnes of
CO2e (carbon dioxide equivalent)

*DISCLAIMER
The data and result calculated is factually correct. However,
the current results cannot be a true indication of Bromsgrove
Council specifically; as we are undergoing a period of
unprecedented change in response to a difficult financial climate.
An example of how this impacts on our carbon footprint is that
Bromsgrove Council now hosts Worcestershire Regulatory Services
(WRS) on behalf of all the districts in the County. Consequently,
54% of this year's mileage emissions arise from WRS staff. All
Bromsgrove and Redditch Councils' services will be shared by the
end of 2011/12, counteracting much of the reductions achieved, for
example through energy efficiency works at the Depot. This dynamic
environment means it is impossible to fairly allocate emissions to
separate Authorities at this stage.
