Communications

We believe it is vital to keep our customers informed about the Council and its services.

Our communications team is responsible for this, and for letting you know how we spend the Council Tax on a range of services which touch your lives every day.

The team, which is a shared service team with Redditch Borough Council, works proactively to a communications strategy to support our work bringing services to the district. It looks ahead to the key decisions of the Council in order to keep you informed.

The team also works closely with the media, working to a Media Protocol PDF Acrobat File (56.94 KB) that sets out the relationships between the media, Councillors and officers.

Here are the three main activities the team carries out:

Media Liaison

Press releases are issued by the communications team, which also deals with incoming queries and seeks comments for stories the media have been alerted to by other sources.

Together Bromsgrove

Like many councils we issue a magazine directly to residents. Together Bromsgrove comes out twice a year delivered to every household in the Bromsgrove District through local newspaper distribution and Royal Mail.

This is a cost-effective way of keeping our residents informed and we are always looking at ways to fund each issues, for example through advertising revenue.

Council Tax Leaflet

Each year we team up with partners including the County Council and Fire Service to produce a joined up Council Tax leaflet (PDF Acrobat File 1.3 MB) which comes to you with your annual council tax bill. This helps you understand how your money is spent. The District Council is responsible for collecting all of the council tax on behalf of its partners but keeps just 13%.

There are many more leaflets, posters and publications which we use to keep you informed and the Communications Team is also responsible for keeping Members and staff up to date with Council decisions. We also engage with our residents through Partners and Communities Together (PACT) meetings, a Customers’ Panel and a varied range of consultation surveys and other exercises.
