Kevin Dicks

Kevin Dicks, Joint Chief Executive of Bromsgrove District Council and Redditch Borough Council

From August 1 2008 Kevin took on the role of Acting Chief Executive of Bromsgrove District Council and Redditch Borough Council. The year-long project saw Kevin at the helm of both authorities and was part of a wider drive to improve services and reduce costs, allowing more to be spent on further improving services for the customer.

At the end of July both Bromsgrove and Redditch Council voted to further the shared services / joint working between the two Councils and appointed Kevin as Joint Chief Executive on a 3 ½ year fixed term contract to oversee the recruitment of a single management team, to serve both authorities, and the potential sharing of all services (excluding the Housing Revenue Account) between the two Councils. Kevin will continue to split his time between the two authorities.

Kevin says: “Bromsgrove has come a long way on its road to improvement and we have learned many lessons along the way. I think the pilot has been a huge success and I think we can continue to make significant improvements to services as a result of sharing services but also sharing good practice between the two Councils.

“I am confident our experienced senior managers and Members will support me in this project which in the end will mean better, more cost-effective services for all residents.”
