Who can use BURT?

Any resident of Bromsgrove District can register to use BURT if they have difficulties with personal mobility, or if suitable public transport is not available. You must be registered with BURT in order to book a journey.

Where can I go with BURT?

You can use BURT for journeys within the boundary of Bromsgrove District, and also to the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch, subject to availability.

When can I travel?

BURT can pick you up from your home or wherever you specify from 8.45am, and the last set-down time at a destination is 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.

What kind of vehicle is BURT?

The BURT minibus is specially adapted for easy access, with low steps and a wheelchair lift.

What assistance will I get from BURT staff?

On most occasions there will be a volunteer helper to assist you to and from the vehicle, as well as with any baggage. The volunteers are not able to assist you with personal care or lift you in any way, for which you will need to be accompanied by your own helper – who does not have to pay to travel with you.

How much does BURT cost to use?

£1 per single journey, plus 20p per mile. This is payable in cash to the driver.

How do I book?

You can book by calling 0800 917 9144 at least 72 hours in advance of your journey. 72 hours notice will not be required if your journey is to a medical appointment, but the journey will be subject to availability. The booking office is open between 9.00am and 4.30pm, Monday to Friday. If you are unable to use a telephone please contact us via email on burt@wrvs.org
