BURT community transport

Bromsgrove Urban and Rural Transport (BURT) is a safe, secure service for residents of the district who are unable to use public transport.

You’ll need to register to make any journey within the boundary of Bromsgrove District in our wheelchair-accessible BURT minibus. Registration is easy and can be done over the phone or online. It can be used for

• Getting to the shops
• Visiting family and friends
• Leisure
• Medical appointments
• Making a travel connection to somewhere outside the borough

BURT can pick you up from your home or wherever you specify from 8.45am, and the last set-down time at a destination is 4.30pm, Monday to Friday, subject to availability. At evenings and weekends we are hoping to start services for groups too – please let us know if you have any ideas for services you’d like to see.

The costs is £2 (or £1 for concessionary bus pass holders) per single journey, plus 50p per mile (40p after the first 5 miles) payable in cash to the driver. If you make regular journeys and prefer not to handle cash we can invoice you for your journeys.

BURT should not be used for medical appointments where the journey is eligible for the NHS Patient Transport Service. Speak to your GP, Health Centre or Medical Consultant for information on Patient Transport eligibility.

Don't forget that if you are visiting Bromsgrove town you could use Shopmobility located on Churchfields multi storey car park.

What extra support can I get from BURT?

BURT is a door-to-door service. We can support you by:

• Carrying your shopping between front door and our vehicle
• Pushing your wheelchair between your front door and our vehicle

We cannot support you:

• With personal care
• To be lifted

If you need the kind of support that we cannot provide, you will need to bring a helper along with you. They will not have to pay.
