Voluntary, charitable and community groups in Bromsgrove District have until noon on Tuesday April 9 to bid for up to £1,000 for their local projects.

The Equality Small Grants Scheme from Bromsgrove District Council makes funding available for activities that benefit the community issues and challenge inequality, advanced equality, and/or celebrate diversity.

The grants are specifically designed to support smaller voluntary, charitable, or community organisations/groups who can often find it difficult to meet the eligibility criteria of larger grants. Groups can apply until midday on the deadline. The approval process and shortlisting of applications will be completed during April and May, and funds will become available to organisations by June 1 to begin delivery.

This is the fifth year that the Equality Small Grants scheme has opened for applications, successfully supporting small organisation to deliver projects and activities. This round of funding can be used to support projects and activities scheduled to be delivered in the financial year 2024/25 up until the 31st of March 2025.

There is a £10,000 budget for this year’s Small Grants Scheme, to enable smaller VCS groups in the district to make their projects a reality. Each project or activity is eligible for up to £1,000 in grant funding.

Leader of Bromsgrove District Council, Cllr Karen May, said: “The types of projects that these grants support are important to furthering equality and celebrating diversity in the Bromsgrove District. These grants enable smaller organisations, who often find themselves ineligible to apply for larger grants, the opportunity to secure funding to make their ideas a reality. This is key to enabling these groups to grow and achieve their aims within the District.”

Historically these projects have helped support older people, young people, men, women, people with a disability, members of the LGBT community and different race and religious groups.
