Consultation on a new Street Trading Policy

To carry out street trading activities within the Council’s area, you must obtain authorisation from the Council.

The Council’s Street Trading Policy sets out:

  • How to apply for a street trading consent
  • How applications for street trading consents are advertised and consulted on
  • The key considerations that will be taken into account when deciding whether to grant a street trading consent
  • The standard conditions that will be attached to a street trading consent
  • The Council’s approach to complaints and enforcement

The Council is currently consulting on a draft revised version of its Street Trading Policy.

As part of this consultation, the Council welcomes responses to the survey, which can be found here:

Have your say on the Revised Street Trading Policy

To help you respond to the consultation survey, you may find it useful to read the relevant sections of the draft policy before answering the questions.

A copy of the draft policy can be found here:

(Note: minor amendments to the policy are highlighted in blue text and additions to the policy are highlighted in red text).

The consultation survey will remain open for responses until 5pm on Friday 22 January 2027
