Event Planning Overview

Bromsgrove’s and Redditch’s programme of events forms an important part of the District’s and Borough’s cultural life. Events help bring communities together, celebrate local identity, and contribute to the vibrancy of our towns and public spaces.

We are committed to supporting event organisers in delivering community events such as festivals, markets, parades, public ceremonies, cultural celebrations, and civic gatherings. By working collaboratively with organisers, partners, and local stakeholders, the Council aims to ensure that events are well planned, safe, inclusive, legally compliant, and beneficial to the wider community.

Through clear guidance and support, we seek to help organisers deliver successful events that enhance community wellbeing, promote local culture, and create positive experiences for residents and visitors across Bromsgrove District and Redditch Borough.

(Please note that all applications require authorisation through a process and by applying to hold an event does NOT mean that the event has been granted permission. (See below for further guidance).

IMPORTANT:  The council reserve the right to cancel an event during the application process or during the event should Government Restrictions and Guidance change, or control measures not be met.

  1. Read through the information on these pages carefully before you do anything else
  2. Avoid delays by making sure Expression of Interest and following Full Application Forms (this will be sent out following approval of the initial expression of interest) are fully completed and signed within the notice period required.
  3. Provide necessary permissions and authorisation in writing before you advertise your event.
  4. Please do not arrange entertainment, stall holders and other providers until you have been given the green light

As well as applying for site permission, if you’re holding an event you must apply for licences such as:

As event organiser you are responsible for ensuring necessary licenses have been granted.

Please note:

  1. Raffles only need a licence if you sell tickets outside the event and/or the value of the prizes exceeds £500.
  2. Anyone preparing or serving food at an event, regardless of whether they are making a profit, must be properly registered as a food business.
