Bromsgrove Knowledge Bank

A local directory of servies so you can explore and uncover local provision nearest to you.

Community Services Directory - Worcestershire

Enables you to search for support or services in your area. You can also register your organisation to appear on the directory for Worcestershire residents to find you.

Bromsgrove and Redditch Network (BARN)

Signposts to a variety of voluntary sector services and helps find the right service if you need help to access food, furniture, school uniform, money advice, support when facing homelessness, disability advice and more. Call 01527 60282 or email office@barn.org.uk

Worcestershire Libraries

Your local library can provide signposting and referral along with internet/wifi access.

Onside advocacy

Onside advocacy offers help to people facing disadvantage to ensure they are treated fairly as equal citizens, with equal rights and have access to all the right services.

Bromsgrove Social Prescribing Team

Lots of things in life can make you feel unwell or overwhelmed. One in five people who visit their GP or health care professionals have problems that can't be solved with medical treatment.

A Social Prescriber may be able to help if you are registered with one of the surgeries below:

Support with energy and utility charges

Bromsgrove Energy Advice Service

We provide a free impartial Energy Advice Service delivered by Act on Energy that helps you to cut energy bills, minimise home energy use, reduce carbon emissions and get advice tailored to you. Freephone 0800 988 288

Severn Trent Big Difference Scheme

If your household income is low, you may be entitled to a BIG reduction. If eligible for the scheme, you could receive up to 90% off the average Severn Trent water bill.

Information available, includes reliable hints and tips on how to reduce your energy bills.

Support with food, furniture and household supplies

NewStarts

NewStarts provide a foodbank, free or low cost furniture, and household supplies to families and individuals who are in greatest need either on low incomes or in financial crisis. Foodbanks operate in from their sites in Aston Fields and New Frankley (covering Rubery).

Basement Project - Foodbank

Basement Project works with young people aged up to 25 and they have an Foodbank on site in Bromsgrove Town Centre.

Catshill Baptist Foodbank and White Goods

Volunteer run foodbank in Catshill. Help may also be accessed for white goods/household essentials.

Hollywood Christian Life Centre Foodbank

Available every Monday between 1.30pm and 2.30pm but call on 01564 822726 outside these hours as there is generally always someone available to help.

Love Food Hate Waste - Worcestershire

Advice on how to cut food waste and save money

Too Good to Go

Mobile App that connects customers to restaurants and stores locally that have unsold food surplus which customers can buy at discounted prices.

Support for families

Gingerbread

A leading national charity working with and supporting single parent families offering support around benefits, money management, debt and other issues commonly affect single parents.

Healthy Start Scheme

If you are more than 10 weeks pregnant or have a child under 4, you may be entitled to get help to buy healthy food and milk if you are receiving a qualifying benefit. You can apply online for the NHS Healthy Start card.

NHS Worcestershire Starting Well - financial support for families

The Starting Well Partnership supports parents, families, children and young people across Worcestershire.

Worcestershire Children First - Free Childcare

Free childcare is available for some 2 year old children and all 3 and 4 year old children within Worcestershire.

Ready Steady Worcestershire

For free school meals food and activities during the school holidays.

A part of the National Citizens Advice Charity working locally offering free, confidential advice and information about benefits, debt, housing and other issues.

National Debtline is a debt advice charity run by the Money Advice Trust that provides a free confidential debt advice service from expert debt advisors to help you improve your financial situation and take control of your debts.

New Starts Money Mentoring Project
Newstarts Money Mentoring is a NEW project that offers 1-2-1 support with Money Mentors to help with with debt, managing finances and budgeting at their site in Bromsgrove (1 Sherwood Road, B60 3DR - opposite Homebase).

Worcestershire Safe Haven

Worcestershire Safe Haven runs 7 days a week 18.00 – 01.00 and is based in the Redditch town centre. It provides telephone support and face-to-face appointments to Worcestershire residents who are experiencing a mental health crisis.
