Voluntary, charitable and community groups in Bromsgrove District are being invited to bid for up to £1000 for local projects.

The Equality Small Grants Scheme from Bromsgrove District Council makes funding available for activities that address community issues and support wider community involvement and equality.

Groups can apply from Wednesday March 23 when bidding opens, until midday on Wednesday 13 April. Groups are advised to only bid for the amount they actually need and will be required to justify their bid.

The Scheme is open for one round only and will support projects or activities being delivered during the year up to 31st March 2023.

The approval process and shortlisting of applications will be completed during May with funds becoming available to organisations by June 1.

There is a £10,000 budget for this year’s Small Grants Scheme, and it is hoped that this will enable smaller VCS groups in the district to make their projects a reality.

Leader of Bromsgrove District Council, Cllr Karen May, said: “The voluntary and community sector provides valuable services to our residents and the district, and we are pleased to support small projects that can make a big difference.

“As covid guidance is now much more relaxed, we hope that lots of groups will apply for the funding to help our communities get back to some form of normality. If you or your group could benefit from this kind of funding to run a project, please do get in touch.”

Historically, these projects have helped support older people, young people, men, women, people with a disability, members of the LGBT community and different race and religious groups.

The application form and guidance are available here  or for more information please contact the district council on equalities@bromsgroveandredditch.gov.uk or 01527 881288.
