Voluntary, charitable and community groups in Bromsgrove District now have the opportunity to bid for up to £1,000 for their local projects.

The Equality Small Grants Scheme from Bromsgrove District Council makes funding available for activities that address community issues and support wider community involvement and equality.

The application process is now open, and groups can apply until midday on Tuesday 28 March. The approval process and shortlisting of applications will be completed during May, and funds will become available to organisations by June 1.

The scheme is open for one funding round only and will support projects or activities being delivered during the year up to 31st March 2024.

There is a £10,000 budget for this year’s Small Grants Scheme, to enable smaller VCS groups in the district to make their projects a reality.

Leader of Bromsgrove District Council, Cllr Karen May, said: “It would be wonderful if we were able to give all of this funding out to the voluntary and community sector because they provide such valuable services to our residents. We want to support those small projects that can make a big difference, so are encouraging as many groups as possible to apply. If you’re feeling daunted by the bidding process, need extra help, or aren’t sure if you qualify, please contact our team who can help and support you to put in a bid.”

Historically these projects have helped support older people, young people, men, women, people with a disability, members of the LGBT community and different race and religious groups.

The application form and guidance are available here or for more information please contact the district council on equalities@bromsgroveandredditch.gov.uk or 01527 881288.
