Calling all sports clubs
Sports clubs in Bromsgrove District are being urged to check out potential opportunities to improve their facilities at a special meeting being planned for the New Year.
Sporting organisations can significantly bolster their plans for improvement when they show how those plans would help meet officially-identified needs.
With those needs identified across Bromsgrove District, Bromsgrove District Council is now inviting local clubs to attend a special open meeting to explore the opportunities that could be available.
Bromsgrove District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Leisure, Cllr Bernard McEldowney, said: “Across the district sports clubs are crucial to providing all sorts of leisure facilities enjoyed by many people, from pitches for playing on, to clubhouses, and much more. Part of our job as a council is supporting those clubs and partnerships to develop and create that provision where there is a need for it, and that’s what this is about.
“We have the official studies that set out the district’s identified needs and priorities. Now we want our local clubs and organisations to know what they look like, so they can identify and learn more about potential opportunities.”
The forum, for which the council is now inviting expressions of interest from clubs ahead of an early 2025 date to be confirmed, will be based around opportunities in Bromsgrove District’s official Playing Pitch and Built Facility strategies.
Underpinned by independent, expert assessments of the quality, quantity, and accessibility of sports facilities in the area, in a process overseen by national sports governing bodies and endorsed by Sport England, the priorities in the strategies are a formal consideration for authorities.
Sporting organisations can find out more and express an interest in receiving an invitation to the discussion by going to www.bromsgrove.gov.uk/sd.
