Confident Update on Nailers Yard

Half of the office space available at Nailers Yard in Bromsgrove is currently under offer according to the Council’s letting agents who are working hard to ensure two of the three remaining suites are on target to be leased by Christmas.

While letting business space before project completion is not always achievable, an initial let for Nailers Yard has been successful with continued positive forecasts from the appointed agents.

Work began on the commercial building and community hub, on the site of the Former Market Hall following the successful bid for Levelling Up funding to the tune of £14.5m.

It will create a commercial and community destination, bringing jobs, footfall, events, workspace, and new opportunities to Bromsgrove town centre.

Council Leader Karen May said: “The clear message from this update is that Nailers Yard is coming to life.

“The fact that businesses are committing before completion demonstrates a confidence in the development which will bring new businesses, activities and opportunities into the heart of Bromsgrove.

“With commercial sensitivities in mind we haven’t been able to share our successes before but securing further lettings sooner rather than later would be a fantastic early Christmas present for the town.”

As part of the development works, a hole was discovered beneath George Street. Initial investigations indicate that it is linked to a disused culvert. The Council is working closely with its contractor, engineers and highways colleagues to investigate the hole and agree a safe, permanent solution.

Cllr May added: “Bromsgrove is steeped in history, and we have unearthed a piece of it! While this is not a direct part of the project, we have taken the opportunity to ensure the ground conditions are safe.”

The Nailers Yard development also includes the Pavilion, a flexible community space where people can meet, learn, create, celebrate and connect.
