Holocaust To Be Remembered in Bromsgrove

Residents are invited to join the Vice-Chairman of Bromsgrove District Council, Cllr Bakul Kumar, and Rev Ray Khan later this month for this year’s Holocaust Memorial Service.

Each year, a service is held for Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) to remember the millions of people killed in the Holocaust, Nazi Persecution, and in subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia, and Darfur.

Chairman of Bromsgrove District Council, Cllr Sam Ammar, said: “As we observe this year’s Holocaust Memorial Day theme of ‘For a Better Future,’ it is vital for our community to pause and reflect on the profound suffering caused by the Holocaust. By acknowledging this tragic history, we can better understand the ongoing injustices faced by many around the world today.”

“We invite all residents to join us in this crucial moment of reflection, honouring those who have endured pain and suffering due to dehumanisation and hate. Let us strive for a world filled with peace, love, and respect, united as one humanity, without divisions.”

The Bromsgrove Memorial Service will take place in the Parkside Suite at Parkside, Market Street, Bromsgrove, B61 8DA, at 11am on Monday 27th January. The event is open to all.

The short service will also see several local middle and high schools along with readers from all faiths take part.

This year up and down the country the theme for Holocaust Memorial Day is “For a Better Future” and the hope is HMD can be an opportunity for people to come together, learn both from and about the past, and take actions to make a better future for all.

In The Holocaust 11 million people including six million Jews were systematically murdered in Europe between 1941-45 by the Nazis and their collaborators. It is the worst genocide in history.
