Parking plan revised after feedback
Much-needed, extra parking spaces are set to be created in Alvechurch in the New Year as Bromsgrove District Council revisits its plans.
Recently the village lost a significant number of parking spaces as part of changes at the nearby Alvechurch Inn. The potential redevelopment of this car park, coupled with the original loss of spaces at Tanyard Lane Car Park, as part of a resurfacing and redesign project headed by the Council, meant a significant loss in total for the area.
Bromsgrove District Councillor Sue Baxter, whose portfolio covers parking, said: “The Council’s aim, when relining its car park, was to provide more room for cars to move freely at Tanyard Lane.
“However, coupled with the loss of car parking spaces elsewhere in the village, is not ideal for local businesses and visitors to the shops and amenities.
“We have listened to residents, customers and business owners and have revisited our plans and hope this will make a small but much needed difference.”
Work is set to start in the new year.
