Home Repair Assistance Loans (Lifetime Loan) and H.M.O Lifetime

The Council collect personal information about you in order to provide discretionary assistance under the Housing Grants, Construction, and Regeneration Act 1996 and the Regulatory Reform (Housing Assistance)(England and Wales) Order 2002. The legal basis for this processing is public task. We require the information to assess and determine your application made by you or a representative, as part of the application process.

The data collected is:

  • Name of owner / applicant / agent
  • Contact details
  • Evidence of financial eligibility
  • Evidence of legal ownership

This information can sometimes be provided to the authority by a third party such as a conveyancer or a solicitor.

This information will be shared by the Private Sector Housing Team with other departments internal to the council, such as Income.

The assistance paid is repayable on sale of the property, information will therefore be retained until such time as the property is sold and the assistance sum repaid. This will then be retained for a year from the repayment date.

This information will not be shared/sold to any other service/organisation unless we have a duty to do so under law.

This data will not be transferred outside of the EEA.
