Energy bills support scheme - alternative funding

The Government have announced additional funding schemes for certain households with their energy costs.

The schemes opened for application on 27 February 2023 and will close on 31 May 2023.

The schemes following schemes will be targeted to a small number of households across the district.

The Energy Bills Support Scheme Alternative Funding (EBSS AF) is for households that did not get the £400 energy bills discount scheme due to not having a direct contractual relationship with their electricity supplier.

Customers eligible for support under the main energy bills discount scheme will not be eligible for EBSSAF

The Alternative Fuel Payment (AFP) is for households that use alternative fuels like heating oil, coal, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) or biomass to heat their homes instead of gas and electricity.

How to apply

You can apply for these alternate funding schemes through the GOV.UK website.

We are waiting for further details from the government about how these schemes will work. Until then, we are not able to answer any questions about either scheme. This page will be updated once guidance is available.

Energy rebate and Fraud

We ask households to stay alert as energy rebate schemes are being targeted by fraudsters and scammers.

Residents are being contacted by phone and asked to give their bank details to get their energy rebate payment. This is a scam.

Bromsgrove District Council are not calling residents about these energy rebate schemes and will not call you to ask for bank details over the phone.
