Buddy the Elf, Clarence the Angel, an 8-year-old Macaulay Culkin and some naughty Gremlins are coming to town this Christmas as Bromsgrove gets its second drive-in cinema experience of 2020.

Visitors can enjoy a festive film, this time at the new location on School Drive, between 18th and 21st December with thirteen performances to choose from.

BlueSky Cinema’s “Drive-in Movies” will be coming back to Bromsgrove with some festive films to suit all ages including, family favourites Elf, Polar Express and Home Alone, golden oldie It’s a Wonderful Life, rom-coms Love Actually, The Holiday and Last Christmas and less traditional options like Gremlins and The Greatest Showman. A full list of the films with dates and times is available at:

The films will be displayed on two giant LED screens during the day and into the evening, with multiple showings per day, providing visitors with the perfect opportunity to share some festive cheer from the safety of their own car.

As part of the experience there will also be a Drive-In Carol Service commencing from 10.30am on Sunday 20th December. Hosted by Rev Stephen Levett of Bromsgrove Methodist Church, it provides opportunity to come and sing carols together safely in your car. To apply for tickets, which are free but limited, email For those not able to attend the service will be live streamed at

The event has moved from the summer location of Sanders Park to the car park located on School Drive (near the old Dolphin Centre) due to accessibility in the poorer weather.

Cllr Phil Thomas, whose portfolio covers leisure and cultural services, said: “It’s been an extremely unusual year and Christmas celebrations will look very different for many of us, but there’s nothing quite like watching a festive film to help you forget about the outside world for a couple of hours. The drive-in cinema was so popular in the summer we just had to bring it back for Christmas to spread a little Yuletide cheer to our residents. Book your ticket today and kick start your Christmas Celebrations in a fun, different but safe way.”

A family of 4 can enjoy the movie in their car for as little as £22 (including booking fees) in the knowledge that all government guidance and social distancing requirements are adhered to and built into the cinema experience. NHS and Emergency Services workers can enjoy a movie for all occupants of a car for just £15 (ID will be required).

Ian Taylor, Managing Director of BlueSky Cinema, said: “The summer event in Bromsgrove went extremely well – thank you to everyone who attended – so we’re very excited to be returning to Bromsgrove for Christmas. There’s something really uplifting about Christmas films and we can’t wait to share this with the people of Bromsgrove through our safe and secure big screen experience. We look forward to greeting you all soon for a magical start to the festive season.”

Families are welcome to bring their own refreshments or they can pre-order some tasty festive treats through the BlueSky Cinema website or app. Refreshments will include a “Retro Box” with candy floss, popcorn and sweets from the 80s, or for those looking to enjoy a more luxurious experience there will be handmade crisps, toffee popcorn, Belgian chocolates, prosecco and – for the designated driver – fresh orange juice.

The cinema experience is expected to be popular and tickets are limited so interested visitors are advised to book in advance at
