Business-owners and residents who are looking to enjoy the relaxed restrictions which kick in on Monday (April 12) are being urged to do so safely and to be mindful of new rules which will be in place.

From Monday, when hospitality venues can reopen, serving in outdoor areas only, all customers aged over 16 must sign in using the NHS Test and Trace system or providing their details, otherwise they should not be let in.

Previously just one person in the party had to sign in.

Customers will also need to maintain social distancing, wear masks where appropriate and including when using the indoor loos and to not hang around inside.

Venue owners are reminded, if they are providing a covered space that these must be sturdy and also, like with smoking shelters, over half of the space must be open.

Head of Worcestershire Regulatory Services Simon Wilkes said: “Our enforcement officers will be visiting venues across the county to ensure the rules are being followed and we have written to businesses to inform them of the changes.

“Business owners are urged to be compliant and provide a safe venue for customers to enjoy the new relaxed restrictions. In turn we want customers to respect the rules so everyone can enjoy going out for food and drink.

“As more and more shops and businesses are set to open from Monday we want to encourage people to keep their social distance when visiting the High Streets to keep themselves, and others safe and to stop the number of Covid cases from rising again.”
